Meet Boo Boo

(A.K.A. Tequila)

Birthday: July 21st, 1997 (Eclectus Parrots live 60-100 years)

Boo Boo in the park.Boo Boo’s given name is Tequila, but some how received the name Boo Boo. He answers to both, so it’s all good. Boo Boo came into my life in 2001 on November 11th, Remembrance Day. He decided to move on from the home he was in and come into mine. He is my very special guy and he is a special friend. He travels with me, sleeps with me, shops with me where we can. To have an exotic bird with a good positive nature is one of the most exciting adventures in my life. Tequila loves to be admired. In the wild this is what happens, the flock travels together, eats together, admires each other and takes care of each other. I take Tequila out and about, he comes to the shop with me. I make sure he is around groups of people so he can be admired. He loves to be admired. He has become a full-time pet job and I love it!

Eclectus Parrots are a remarkable bird and ideally suited as a pet. When taught properly, they are capable of cognitive behaviour from a very young age. The ability of the Eclectus to communicate with humans is aresult of their extremely inquisitive nature, a feature strongly linked to their life in the rain forest canopy. This habitat is a rich environment requiring a heightened visual and audible intellect to master. The Eclectus has developed a complex breeding culture in this crowded vegetative habitat, resulting in communal breeding where uncles and aunties help rear young in a creche-like situation. This sharing and caring feature of the Eclectus makes them naturally the perfect pet.
